Doula care with Kim Freeman

Why Choose a Doula?
Having a doula provides invaluable emotional support during labor, offering a calming presence and continuous reassurance. We are trained to listen, provide encouragement, and help manage anxiety, making you feel more empowered and confident in your journey. This emotional support can significantly reduce feelings of fear or uncertainty, creating a safer and more positive birth experience. Doulas also help partners feel more involved, offering them guidance and reassurance, which helps reduce stress in the birth space. The emotional benefits of having a doula can lead to a deeper sense of satisfaction and well-being after the birth.
Shorter Labors: Women with a doula had, on average, a 41-minute shorter labor compared to those who did not have a doula.
Less Interventions: Women who had continuous support from a doula during labor had a 28% decrease in the likelihood of having a cesarean section, a 31% decrease in the use of synthetic oxytocin (Pitocin) to induce labor, and a 12% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth.
Partner Involvement: Doulas help partners feel more involved. A study by The University of California, San Francisco, found that 74% of partners reported feeling more confident and capable supporting their partners when a doula was present.
Birth Satisfaction: 94% of women who had a doula reported being satisfied with their birth experience. (2008 study published in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth)
